How can I play in the same computer? in other words, playing solo? Thank you very much! More power!

You need to installer the server on your computer. Then launch it, and connect the client to 'localhost'.

yup, i already did downloaded both the server and GTK client. I run the server first and this was displayed:

doeric_server: error on select: No error
doeric_server: error on select
Waiting for connections...
doeric_server: error on select: No error
doeric_server: error on select
Waiting for connections...
doeric_server: error on select: No error
doeric_server: error on select
Waiting for connections...
doeric_server: error on select: No error
doeric_server: error on select
Waiting for connections...
doeric_server: error on select: No error
doeric_server: error on select
.................................
................................. (the same line over and over)

After running this on the background, I ran my GTK Client and type 1 (localhost) and pressed enter but it was unable to connect.

What do i need to do? Im excited! I remember playing this a long time ago and would like to see it now again (i love this game!). I use Windows XP. I have the MAP files. I use the latest versions.

THankX!!!! More Power!

Did you make sure your firewall allows client/server connection?
Since the server expects a connection, it is possible you need to tweak XP's firewall to enable incoming connections.
But then, I don't use XP :)

Look at the crossfire page on sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/crossfire

To get latest maps from cvs use:

Code: Select all

cvs -z9 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/crossfire co maps-bigworld
This assumes you have program called cvs to work with the repository.

Ok. I'm downloading the maps now. But, as I wait, I'm curious... Do you ONLY need the maps plus the firewall to allow crossfire connections (or to be off) to log onto localhost?

Also, where do I have to unzip the maps to? (I got winzip to work on this, and unzipped the files to a folder i just made, just incase. Now, I can just cut them out and paste them where they belong.)

I don't think the problem is with the map : if the server can't find /HallOfSelection, it crashes. The same with the exp_table, etc... (at least, mine).

Here, it just can't connect... so, i think it something else than just server settings...

Dont think the problem is with server config or something like that .
Maybe one of the update in windows prevent server to get a Protocol .
I go to desinstall all my update , and I will see if something change
