Yes, it is.
Been very helpful in squashing bugs, too.

I wonder if it is the most popular...
And YES, i think it is!
It should be statistics of the server in the web page (if posible)...

A script (not in CVS) does exist which uses a modified MRTG to monitor public server activity and player populations.
However, no one is hosting this script right now.

If this script can be hosted anywhere I could, where can I get a copy/setup instructions?

Ive had a quick look and it seems to read from the player directory meaning it could only be hosted on metalforge (or whatever sever you want stats on).
If I sort out how it works locally, would it be hostable on metalforge? (looks to require perl + apache/httpd)

The scores/* directory and scripts are for creating a highscore list like this:
https://cat2.dynu.ca/crossfire/cscores.html
AFAIK, that script is already updated and maintained in CVS.
The update/* directory is the automatic update script to make the server update daily with CVS.
The contents of the /contrib/datatraffic and /contrib/metafetcher directories is what we are looking for - this graphs the server traffic and can also track player logins on other public servers. Hmm.. this stuff doesn't look so daunting anymore..
I also see in the readme that the script uses the same license as Crossfire (GPL).

(*cough*)
Why don't you ask a dev to add it to cvs?
