I have followed the wiki instructions substituting python 2.6 for the 2.4 of the wiki since the 1.50.0 server wants python26.dll but I run it get 3 invalid smoothed face errors sdefault.001, fog_s.111, and grassmedium_s.111 then no metaserver2 file found then I get a message box with entry point not found (the procedure entry point_PyByteArray_empty_string could not be located in the dynamic link library python26.dll however the server appears to run anyway but when I try to connect server comes up with a lot of errors... here is a paste of the server console output

on the client I get just the bottom line of the map and the tile contents seem correct for login and it's asking for name and I can create a char fine just can't do anything. AH!! just found out map display is a client glitch of some kind map is just scrolled way down and the scrollbars don't work... will need to play with setting I guess.

The smooth face errors are harmless, and can be safely ignored.


For the Python issue, could you indicate the exact version of Python you are using, including where you downloaded it from, please?

I am using version 2.6 exactly from the python ftp... not sure which versions use python26.dll probably all sub-versions I suppose but since there was no information anywhere regarding what exact version to use I went with 2.6 exactly... since the wiki stills says to use 2.4.1 it was of little help. as for the server I am using the latest available as of 10 days ago everything seems to be working fine except for everything python...

Version 1.60.0 for Windows was just released, and hopefully it'll work correctly with Python 2.6 (that's what it was built with).

You can find it at https://sourceforge.net/projects/crossf ... ws/1.60.0/ (take and install server and maps, you need both).

Please note that even though those packages seem to work, no guarantee on potential bugs

Thanks I'll give it a go

Just to let people know I installed the highest version of 2.6.x and it now works fine except dragons don't get ported after selecting type they just sit there and if I choose a class for em it crashes the server.

A snapshot of the current version (revision 14250) was uploaded to SourceForge, and it fixes this particular bug (and others, though it probably adds new ones ).

Grab it from https://sourceforge.net/projects/crossf ... snaspshot/ (server + maps). Note that the file name and version in the installer aren't the same, harmless mistake
