levitation limits

I am a dragon and I start with the skill levitation, I have noticed how useless it appears is anyone can tell me what it does please do. It should at least le you hover ocer counters and other objects like generaters and monsters should't it

The benefits of levitate can be noticed when traveling over certain terrain.
To name a few..
Lava will not burn you. Hills and certain wilderness terrain will not slow down your movement. Certain water terrain will allow you to pass over it. Runes and other trigger based traps will not go off when you levitate over them.
