Getting out of Brest?

I've just started to play on the bigmap world. I've got a little fireborn and took a dragonride to Brest. Now I want to get back to my appartment in Scorn... Is it possible?

I can't pass the mountain passes with the dire wolves, since I can hardly enter the room before my -30 in cold resistance have helped them killing me... My god denies me protection against cold and I've not found any potions of cold resistance (nor any rings). I've walked and walked and walked, but I can't find any path around the mountains.
I like Brest and all and if I could buy an appartment there, I guess I would settle down there, but no one is selling one to me.

So is there some way out or will I have to stay there until I can beat those nasty wolves?

Even with about 60 cold resist, and being well over level 50, that passage can be pretty painful, though not quite deadly at that stage.
My suggestion is that unless you can word of recall back to scorn, then I suggest you ask other players in-game to help you by making a town portal back to scorn for you.
Also, to prevent future issues, I suggest you try to get word of recall as soon as possible

This has happened to a few people now (I've given town portal rides before).
It might be worth mentioning this at the dragon transport or the portal in the apt in scorn?)

an alternitive approach to consider, would be connecting stoneville to navar, that way some exploring would have to be done before finding the dragon transports, so a low level player is less likely to chance across it. (unless they chose to start in navar and then all bets are off)

I visited an Inn when I got there before I discovered how hard it was to get back so a word of recall would not have helped me.
Does it really have to be that hard to visit Brest? Can't there be dragon transports (or ships in the lake) to get around? How do the people of Brest get food when it is so hard to get there, there were not much in the way of fields around it so they have to have supplies braught in...

well, the thing is that brest is a high level area, it is designed to be hard to get to so that low level players get 'persuaded' not to enter until they level up a little.
This is mostly to protect them from high level quests where they would be splattered on entry.
That you have managed to get there anyway, illustrates a way in which the design of the area is maybe not suitable for a low level character.
Closing off the dragon transport would be a way to stop characters like yours getting there too quickly. (although having stupid numbers of death messages from low level characters against titans, wizards and dragons is somewhat amusing)
As for the food issue, erm...... quick, look over there! a 3 headed monkey!

I don't think Brest is such a high level area though (not for a fireborn with 100% fire protection). I came to Brest as a level 14 character (with around level 10 on all spell paths), went through the nasty house and the castle as well as the first 7 gates of hell... I gained a few levels while doing it too.

I guess I would have been level 30 by now if I hadn't died a few times against the wolves in my attempts to get away.
The nasty wolves on the way are much harder than the dragons and titans...

I agree. the 9 gates of hell is intended for lvl 10+ char, for when you need your last stat pots. and a fireborn can do it quite easily.
Pathor, just don't sleep in Brest, one death and you're home
... and scroll of word of recall will work.

that is an arguement for moving it out of brest and into another town.
Personally I was about level 25 before I attempted the gates of hell, and still found it hard.

I disagree.
While the later gates are hard and require a higher level player to actually solve them - the earlier gates are at a challenge level in line with a low level character.
If a player can't kill the guards behind the locked doors, they can't continue. That's the first safety net. If the player's can't get the key for the next door because the can't survive (or solve the map) that is their second safety net.
By moving the maps to a harder to find or get to area - it gives players a cakewalk for 3 or 4 levels and a challege for the remaining areas.
Perhaps a slight modification to the maps so that players can either use the keys to access the next gate, with the eventual goal of obtaining the big treasure at the end. Or, they could use the key to open a door on the first level of the map with a reduced but adequately rewarding treasure.
