I have noticed that the crossfire logo seems a bit out of date with pictures of old monsters such as those dragons. I personaly think that someone could use the same Crossfire text that says CrossFire, but have modern monster pictures intead of the old ones used now. Its only a sugestion.

Thank you for the reminder on this.

It looks like whatever issue this server had the last time I found this file (2+ years ago) has been resolved.
CrossFire images
Here are some images that I created for CrossFire, using CrossEdit, the GIMP and some patience... You are free to use them for anything related to CrossFire, such as WWW pages or documentation. It is not necessary to credit me for the images, but please do not pretend that you created them.
If you have the GIMP and you would like to create similar images, the font that I used is "becker" from the freefonts package. The golden letters were created with Xtns -> Script-Fu -> Logos -> Glossy, by setting the font size to 70 and the gradients to "Golden". The glowing logo at the end of the first animation was created with Xtns -> Script-Fu -> Logos -> Glowing Hot. The animations were created from screenshots of custom maps (the icestorm and some other objects were pasted separately from their XPM files). I also used Filters -> Animation -> Animation Optimize to reduce the size of the files, although they are still a bit too big.

So.. that's how you replicate the text. Perhaps we should have a (friendly..) logo design contest?

That seems to explain how the text was made...

well, given that mwedel has announced his intention to have a release weekend after next (
http://shadowknight.real-time.com/piper ... 08877.html )
it might be a little late to start the contest for this release cycle.
Unless you can change his mind of course, although I can't really see a new logo as being a release-critical feature.

agreed, it is not needed right away, if we have to, lets just have the contest, and we could just put it up as soon as an opertunity arives, without too much trobble
