Client crashes after last server update

I run a Crossfire GTK client (1.7.1) under the latest Windows GTK (2.4 or so, which is a year old...) on Windows XP, and, up until the last server update, everything worked perfectly. Now, after several minutes of play, the game halts and GTK produces several critical errors (mostly graphics-related). The client subsequently causes an auto-termination error in Windows and shut downs. Anybody have any ideas of how I might prevent or fix this? I tried the OpenGL client, which works, but won't accept keybindings, making it absolutely useless.

Hmmm... At the same time, my Linux gtk client started lagging alot.... I tried again both with the normal client and CVS version of both and it still happened, and in the end, it stopped lagging when I turned image caching off...

Hope that helps :) (even if it does'nt help you fix your problem, it might help the devs with the issues that started happening...)

Nope, I don't use image caching.

Also fairly recently I've been getting my client to crash whenever the server does - anyone else?

Try disabling or enabling the "trim text" checkbox.
