Due to recent events of "vandalism" on the forum, only registered users who are logged in can make new posts and reply to existing posts.

Guests are still able to read and search the forum.

Whilst I can understand the motivation for this, I can't help but wonder if maybe now some newbies will find it harder to ask questions on this forum. There is the possibility that they may then just leave.

Maybe it would be worth spliting the 'spoilers and help requests' forum in two? It is the second largest forum by thread count anyway, and having the help forum allowing anonymous posting (but not the others) would still let newcomers ask for help without the hassle of creating an account, whilst also reducing the degree to which vandalism was an issue.

Also it would stop the rather bizzare situation where those who have never played the game are the most likely to have to search through spoilers.

maybe it's a nice idea to limit the search function a little, so that it doesn't search in general chat - or some new to forum for not CF related discussion?
This would make 'general chat' 'general crossfire related chat'.

From what I have seen - this can't be done. A user can choose which one forum they want to search, or they have to search all of them.

Appears to be a custom feature or hack for their forum.
