there is 'forked lightning' a Sorig special prayer. Never seen it working, but it seems to be more or less cone based.

I think bolt spells are underpowered
bolt spells have some properties: 1) they do as much damage as cone spells do (i guess) and 2) they cover a small area

to have them as powerful (hence useful) as conebased spells, they should do more damage. Then also lighting would be more useful.

I think a players class should affect the MAX stat, not the inital stat of a player. Then there would be a real difference between fighters and mages. for example, give a fighter max_str=31, max_pow=28 and a sorcerer max_pow=33, max_str=28. Both the number and the stats are examples!

i thought it was chain lightning that sorig gives... but it should be easier to get. both that and sunspear... and all the other prayres the gods grant...

bolt spells are focused, so shouldnt they do much more damage? and cost less mana? good idea...

and there needs to be more spells that do physical damnage like magic missile and create bomb. that way you can kill magic immunine creatures with spells that kinda punch like divine fist.

ex: if you have a throw boulder spell, it wont do magic damnage, it would summon a bnoulder, and thow it, which would do physical damage...

but magic should be a magicians only thing. warriors should not be using pyromancer attack spells, they should be using thier swords, and healing spells, and maybe a small thing or two to help them.

elf mages shouldnt be using 2 handed chaos swords or smashers. they should be using spells to kill, and a dagger if needed.

There are some bugs with stat handling that make that pretty hard to do right now, although in principle I agree, but it should be final stats get changed as well, not instead, otherwise the differences are reduced earlier on.

ah, well. thats the immanent confusion about max_stat (which is the race max, iirc) and 30

i mean the thing you called final stat (currently 30) should be affected by race and/or profession choice.

Yeah, I agree. Then it would make the professions have more purpose past lvl 10 or so.

Yeah, I understand the distinction, but currently 30 is a limit that is assumed in a lot of places (and hard coded in some)

Try this, create a character and die repeatedly, keep doing that until the stats loop round, then all stats will act like they are at 30. Drink a potion of life and they are "restored" back to the original values.

more cold spells are needed. something like the cold version of meteor swarm. also more homing spells like magic missle, but more damage. how would a homing fireball be? and as i said before, more spells under summoning and evocation that do physical damage instead of magical damage. that way you can still kill chaos dragons with spells. while they still will probably bounce off, boulders should do physical damage, to a carefully equiped warrior now, but they should take them out, and probably stun(paralize?) for a second... have to be careful how these are implemented though, cause they most likely will end up getting cast right back at us...

Perhaps you can change the code on himing in so it "chases" the victim at a set speed. So theoretically, you can have a fireball chasing you, and if your fast enough, you can run and put a wall in between you and it.

hmm, a real meteor swarm train?

would it be possible to implement a lightning wave spell? of course i cant think of any reason why lighting would travel in a wave right now...

That would suck :P
I think max stats should be upgraded, and stats themselves be downgraded.
Like Diablo-type. :?
