But then it is still too easy to travel across vast areas of the game world.

Moving equipment to you makes it possible to equip yourself whereever you are, but not to jump around the entire world stupidly quickly.

Ultimately it should /matter/ where in the world you are.

Possibly an easier technical solution is to have a bank strong box, and have its contents follow you around....

If it follows you around, what happens when a gate blocks it or a monster fireballs it?

Ok, maybe I wasn't making myself clear.

A bank strong box follows you around insofar as wherever you are you can acquire its contents /from any bank/.

Think like the way the banks work now with imperials, and extend that to any items you can think of.

I like cavesomething's ideas :D
This will make crossfire more MUD like and thus more fun.

Bank strongboxes would not be needed if we could mail items through the mail... then we could mail items to ourself when we decided to move to a diff area and check a mailbox in that area.

One should have to prepare if they want to move their life's savings around.
Shouldn't be automatic like with a bank strongbox script.

Actually the other points would be that I would want to charge for budging things around between cities, also to have a delay.

Go to bank,
say request remote box

'hello we have boxen registered in your name at the following location.'

scorn 10 Kg
navar 40 Kg
santo dominion 100Kg

say whilst you can access your local box now, if you want to have one of your other boxen delivered here via our express delivery system, a short wait will be involved.

say request box navar.

Your navar box is 40Kg, the delivery charge will be 4 gold (40 silver) is this ok?

say yes

Ok then, here is your ticket, come back in 1 minute and you will be able to claim your items.

[be given a ticket which has a counter that counts down, over the course of sixty seconds, when it reaches zero, the box is ready]

go back with ready ticket

Good day sir, the box you requested earlier is now available, would you like to have it brought to you

say yes

go to a small room, in the back of the bank, where the box can be accessed and things taken out and put in.

Of course this means that a disorginised or indecisive person who can't decide what to keep will be charged more for keeping it all in their boxen rather than in an apartment or guild.

I also think that maybe the tickets should go 'ping' when they are ready, but that is probably just me being strange.....

Only a particular machine does that.. and it isn't a strongbox.

*me figures a big chest, with many many small legs, a tendancy to appear to grin even without a face, and following his owner everywhere, including death's world*

Eek. Perhaps not a good idea to make what little world map travel there is even less common with its difficulty?
