Correct. The bug was due to book treasure list being generated 2 times (at item creation, and later at item reloading). It's been fixed, but old books still have TWO spells in inventory. Since each load the order is inversed, it'll mutate each time.
Correct fix is for a DM to remove one inventory item

I've stumbled upon a newly generated book today, and it had two spells in it. Since metalforge is runing latest cvs: does this suggest there is another version of this bug out there ?

Ok, Mith and Valderan
This is
supposed to be a whine/bug report thread, giving brainy people incentive to fix the issue.
I've seen a bunch of old books not so long ago, those had 2 spell arches in them, but since the new arch loading code ordinary spellbooks are fine, I have only seen quest spellbooks mutate.
Has anyone managed to get any consistent mutations from any of the quest spellbooks ?

Meteor swarm tends to go firewall, lightningwall.. stuff like that, 75% of time(I tested and 1 of every 4 times I actually got MS) it seems to mutate to something else, Way of destruction of "random spell" tends to happen quite often as well, and I have only had FoD drop twice, and then the spellbook wont even mutate to FoD.. itll just stay consecrate etc..
And Salathar this is a spoiler and help requests forum.. So we b free to whine and complain about spoilers as we wish^^ I cant register either so dont tell me too: seems my email is banned.. and I dont remember using it here before.
