I kinda like to play a dragon worshiping Devourers. Its just a pity it breaks the dragon guild, at least i can make a second dragon to let my main (undead) dragon in.
Yeah Leaf!
RPG, Roll Power Gamers ...
and then smoke them
Anyway I allways thougth a powergamer as one that can do good even with a crap char.
But you know.. here in italy english words have allways strange differencies from the originals....
(a gay is not a gay.. a lamer is not a lamer... and so on)
I don't use gods because I find that it is too hard to level up with priest powers (I rarely get past 1st level in praying). This is especially hard with denied: wounding, as cause wounds is a large part of one's priest exp.
Some priests start with small healing spell (don't they all?).. any attack spell they may have is VERY weak (we're talking multiple shots to kill the weakest of weak creatures) and therefore it would be helpful to let them earn experience from healing..
I also suggest that healing OTHERS be rewarded even more.. If it's a disease, the XP earned should be based on the pottential of that disease to cause damage (I once almost died of flu
I think ALL spells should give SOME experience.. I mean, don't you learn something by casting identify? You're basically practicing your craft.. I don't see a difference between identify and say burning hands, other than what the intended target is...

I agree. In fact, some identify-type skills *do* give you XP. For example, I recently did "use_skill jeweler" and it identified two rings I was holding, giving me 600 xp!
I also agree that cure/heal/buff spells should give more experience when used on other players-- that would both encourage teamplay and discourage monotonous sit-and-cast behavior, so killing two birds with one stone.
Not that sit-and-cast is a problem. Hey, if someone wants to turn the game into a mindless clicking exercise they're only doing it to themselves. Furthermore, I don't see any real difference between someone casting a non-harm spell repeatedly and someone running in circles through a dungeon full of weak monster-generators to build up combat skills. If their character was good enough to train their skills in a more interesting manner, I'm sure they'd be doing that instead.
Whole point of game is to PLAY it.. If someone chooses to sit there and earn experience overnight, well, their loss..
I don't know.. Every game has cheaters.. Even right now you can have someone tank for you and you can bring up low level character up pretty quick, but what's the point?...
..The way I look at it, at least people are playing
