What's bad about ghost images? All you have to do is walk over the old image. I don't see a big deal.

It is a nuisance. Sometimes players forget who is who if they leave like 5 images behind. Not to mention it _is_ a bug. Bugs are maent to be repaired.

Actually the more annoying one is thinking a monster is a ghost image, when it really isn't and tries to hit me when I walk near. Fortunatly I am far too strong to be killed by much short of a mega dragon in melee comabat, but still it can be annoying to take the odd HP loss here and there.

Indeed. There have been more than 90 deaths alone among players due to a ghost image of a cyclops. I remember all of them.
over and over. This bug is a nuisance at least and a killer at worst. It is probably based in the gtk client, where it doesn't update the player's position or monster position as quickly as it should.

I haven't noticed that before...

I would imagine it is a GTK client think as well as (to the best of my knowledge) no other client experiences it.
However usually walking over the ghost image will erase it...
Something I haven't noticed before is that recently I am getting some ghost banishment - i.e. when I cast banishment sometimes it appears to stay and only some of the squares are fixed by walking on them - has anyone else seen this?
I haven't updated my client in a long time so I don't know that it's a client problem (which really confuses me)

I havent seen this ghost images your talking of and I use directX,(long live directX!), and Woo.. isnt that a tad suicidal walking on top of banishment? Even if you figure its just a ghost image.

Same thing happens with the X (non-gtk) cfclient in linux (at least the current version for gentoo, and in fact I never had a client that did *not* produce this bug)

Ok, so it's not just GTK interesting.
(Yes, woo doesn't walk on banishment

But miniwoo the Evil Master does)
