I asumed you meant temperory already, and I think that it in implimentation, one would have to be careful to avoid 'exploits' (i.e. godpower attack is something that players are never supposted to have)

Heh heh.
Actually, if it was temperary, then their should be no limits on absorbing..
But there should be a failure rate, at about 50%.

Code: Select all

You attempt to absorb in Evil Master.
Evil Master notices you4r attempt and pushes back!
You failed!
You missed Evil Master
You have DIED
If you fail, well, lets just say you are paralyzed temperarily, and Evil Master decides to whittle you Arse down.

Or chance of success perhaps based on this: (monster level * number of attacktypes) vs. your level

if you fail, the monster should absorb you. (insta-kill)

Personally, I'm thinking something like a spell that can do either modes (spell absorb, or monster absorb) depending if it's cast at an adjunct monster or not. This spell is not the simplist to impliment, even just a singal mode one it's not very simple, but dispite this spell not being simple to impliment it's certainly quite doable.

i think player absorbing should be a new character type. preferably a mimic or something. rather different from absorbing/diverting elemental spell attacks. although if you do absorb too much, it has to go somewhere, which could prove deadly in co-op...

the spell absorbing is a self solving problem with exploits, theyll just keep absorbing till they kill themselves.

absorbing monsters would be a problem, cause someone will absorb a mouse, drop all their equipment, then get stuck in that form.. :-D

Absorbing their abilities is the key.
The back fire could be extremely dangerous too.

backfire = things like:
-instadeath
-exp loss that can't be resisted
-extreme stat los (very extreme)
-(maby) godly ret
-a new disease

And the spell would be level ~40?

I was thinking more like level 25 to 30 area, but in any case, much higher that most. Or perhaps more like 15-20 but success rate at those levels would be very very low.
