ahhh.... I guess you're talking about your scroll shop you're making... but still that would be very expensive to clear out every reset. I believe that bort was rerfering to TCs (espescially dragon). But still the amount of time taking if you get the scrolls from TC is a big loss, and if it's the shop, than it's still a pretty big loss of money and somewhat of time.

upper humanoid i believe. and yugi had me help him get scrolls. 1 or 2 times, you get a lot of xp, and easily 1000 scrolls and books.

can you inscribe books? maybe require books for the heavy rods?

rods do regenerate magic, so it seems logical that one of the ingredients regenerate magic. I like the idea to use books for rods.

wands and staves are just spell containers, rods are more like a wizard in a piece of iron. I expect knowledge in a rod, and a glowing crystal (for the max sp it can store) and something for regeneration.

why can't all this be done with alchemy recipes?

If nothing else it avoids the problem of rods that shouldn't exist.

Nice idea :-) I like, I like :-)
What might make the difference between normal, and heavy rods? Perhaps in addition to the regen item, the crystal, and the book, perhaps there should be another item as well that would be somewhat of a "rod base" which would have two versions, on for heavy rods, and one for normal rods, both of which would be difficult to get.

True, it does avoid such problems, but it's just that it would be a pain to adjust it every time a new spell is introduced that would work well. I think that just using the existing alch code would be a bit kludgey with having to make a seperate recipy for each type of rod that is possible to make.

However with the "dynamic alchemy" idea on another topic, if that's implimented in an affective manner, then it could be used for this...

how about using plat for the light(normal) rods base, and require one normal rod for every level you want your heavy rod to be. so for a lvl 110 heavy rod of MS, you need to make 110 light rods first. too evill?

Hmmm.... something along those lines might be good... except that I think that Plat is too readily avaliable, and though making the amount of plat high would help that, it would make this not readily avaliable enough to lower leveled players who might want to try rod making out with low lvled spells and rods.

lvl 1 rod: 1 plat
lvl 2 rod: 4 plat
...
lvl n rod: n^2 plat
...
lvl 110 rod: 12100 plat

crafting a lvl 110 rod then requires a LOT of plat (i can't think of a formula to calculate the sum of the first 110 square numbers right now, but i think it will be around 400k)

a heavy rod is twice the weight of a rod... ;)

11200 plat is not a lot, that is less than 1/20th of the amount needed to by a pshop in brest.

It needs to be more, much much more.

try n^4

lvl 110 rod ~ 140million plat

That should be much more effective in reducing money in the economy

(on a tangential note, when is mf going to run scripts like cat2 does, showing the wealth of the players?)

and then if theres a very low chance of succes, there will be no economy very quickly... maybe n^3? depending on the level of succes?

and if you make heavy rods with 1 normal rod for every level heavy rod you want instead of scrolls, then it would quickly remove plat :-D

1000 scrolls,
lots of plat,
1 glowing crystal
== 1 normal rod, level being the lowest of the scrolls

1 rod (per level wanted),
lots of plat,
1 glowing crystal
== 1 heavy rod, level being the amount of normal rods there are? but then they could just add 110 lvl 1 rods...
