You get following pets at different levels :
bat 1
bird 3
bee 4
spider 5
killer_bee 6
pixie 7
skeleton 8
stalker 9
devil 11
beholder 13
dark_elf 15
skull 17
angel 20
vampire 25
If you are repelled/attuned summoning then corresponding levels will be higher/lower by a value of 4 (If I am not mistaken)

Summon Pet Monster, results by level
Moderator: Board moderators
There should be creatures above vampires, e.g. level 40 summ has creature <inster monster here>

Interesting new idea:
Lets say that I am level 55 summoning.
What if I could type invoke summon pet monster demon? And get a demon. After all, I had passed the level that give you demons. If you leveled, you get the previous monsters if you type invoke summon pet monster <lower monster>

Well, it would be nice during the beholder levels. I recall when I was first leveling summoning, before the change to make charm monster give exp, that getting past pixies was very slow, since they were so much worse than bees.
Likewise at beholder levels, the vacuum cleaner pets don't work (clear out large room with lots of treasure drops, generate a half dozen demons, petmode sad; wait a minute; petmode defend; killpets, have all the treasure in nice piles.... )
Its one of the easiest ways to train smithery at lower levels too.

but still. It's difficult to gain summoning lvls even at lvl 9 (like me), with stalkers, which are generally regarded as being quite good, as they can't seem to kill anything that gives a decent amount of experience for even a lvl 9 skill.
EDIT: Actually I'm finding now that lvl 9 summon with 28 Cha and some hill giant generators works quite well... but I still think summon pet monster might need a little tweaking around lvl 9 or so

But it would be cool to summon lower level monsters.
