DM taking actions which are against the rules is something that should not happen, and it does NOT to the best of my knowledge on metalforge.mrbrklyn wrote: I don't need the DMs to talk to me ***at all**. When the DMs are busy policing everyone on the board, there is a problem

This I agree with, the DMs at times are too noticable. IMHO it would be nice if DM powers were split up more, so that no one was so powerful. Imagine every town having its own baron/despot in charge, who could jail people in that town. With the wilderness being left to what are now the dm's.
This would of course be difficult to do, map location could be partially inferred from directory name, but there would also be a need to introduce a concept of regions, and multiple savebeds (one per city?).
Unfortunatly the apparatus for the creation of an accountable governence is not present in CF atm, therefore there is an unaccountable one. Whether that is a bad thing or not, is a moot point.

No. That has never been the case, unless your including the rule that talking back to a DM is against the rule....Salathar wrote:DM taking actions which are against the rules is something that should not happen, and it does NOT to the best of my knowledge on metalforge.mrbrklyn wrote: I don't need the DMs to talk to me ***at all**. The Dms have a long history of over-zelousness.

Aside which, the major problem here is the chat channel rule.

There is Fair and Not Fair. When your DMs are intercepting every newbie on the board, and bort is jumping in and helping them, you can BET that the situation is one which is abussive: ie UNFAIRSalathar wrote: Quite possible it is also a bit to do with what you consider 'fair or not'.

And there is a reason for that rule. Much like assalting a staffer of any institution is illegal.mrbrklyn wrote:No. That has never been the case, unless your including the rule that talking back to a DM is against the rule....
Being DM is taking your own time and dedicating it to others. Least you could do is protect DMs from being abused.
Not really knowing of a situation, simply because I do not play much on a public server these days.mrbrklyn wrote:There is Fair and Not Fair. Part of the job DMs do is to make sure the rules are respected. Therefore, there _must_ have been rule breaking if a DM had to interfere. And there is NO undication of ANY abuse of ANY kind.

Bzzt. False analogy, various orginizations have policies to stop assault on their staff. This is /not/ the same as talking to them in an annoyed voice, which is the extent of that which is possible on MF.Salathar wrote: And there is a reason for that rule. You have constructed a straw man, you must logically either construct a valid argument, which respects the distinction between physical violence and shouting, or else retract it.
