Ok I dont remeber it being this hard. I have done this many times in the past. What am I missing?
I tried to set one up on debian 6 .It installed and went on and played and then I rebooted it . I couldnt get game to start after that. I was testing it so no big deal.
I just ordered new server and put centos6 on it .
No package crossfire available.
Error: Nothing to do
Thats what I got
So my question is what do you suggest the OS I use?
Setting up a server.

I think that Debian (at least, Ubuntu does this) may auto-start the server, and thus lead to any manual initiation of the server to fail (since the port is already in use).
The package you are looking for in CentOS may be crossfire-server, not crossfire. They changed the name a while back (I believe for the 1.50.0 release or so). I'm not familiar with CentOS, so I can't really give you any more help than that.
If those weren't the case, you could always try to compile from source. Then its a matter of installing all the dependencies for the server to configure the installation. After the dependencies are satisfied, its just a matter of compiling.

That SilverNexus guy? You needn't worry about him.
