Did the perl plugin patch (woo alliteration) mentioned on Sourceforge ever make it into the server?
There were some issues with the patch also requiring other server changes not in the patch file and isolating those changes from the other code changes at crossfire.schmorp.de would not be easy.
To put it simply, the effort to port the perl plugin from crossfire.schmorp.de's server code is rather large and no crossfire developers (currently) have interest in doing this.
Note, there may be other aspects of what happened with the perl plugin that I'm not aware of, I didn't pay much attention to it.
